Portable Treadmills
Portable Treadmills
There is a general move towards leading healthier lifestyles and this includes incorporating some exercise in a daily routine. Walking, jogging or running are some of the best exercises for fitness and weight loss. The treadmill is therefore one of the most popular pieces of gym equipment. However, not everybody can get to the gym and these people may opt to exercise at home. The reality though is that most people live in apartment or living spaces that are a bit limited and cannot fit full sized gym equipment. It is for this reason that portable treadmills were designed.
Portable treadmills are built smaller, lighter and more compact that their full size counterparts. They are also collapsible which enables them to be folded away and stowed in small places like under the bed or in a closet. These treadmills can be stored either horizontally or vertically.
A portable treadmill has a number of typical features. They usually have a belt that is about 50 inches, which means the entire length of the treadmill will be between 52 and 60 inches. The running area will be approximately 17 inches by 45 inches. The portable treadmills all come spring loaded to enable them to be folded away.
Portable treadmills have a number of benefits. The first and most obvious benefit is portability. This is their main purpose. They are lighter and smaller so that they are easy to move from one place to another. Some brands even come with wheels to make moving them even easier.
Another benefit is that these treadmills are relatively easy to set up and start using. They are very easy to assemble and come with comprehensive set up instructions. If you do not want to be bothered with the assembly, you can have the treadmill put together at the store.
Portable treadmills are generally cheaper than standard sized treadmills. Their lower prices are probably due to the fact that these treadmills, besides being smaller, also have fewer functions, features and options than standard treadmills. For example, you will like find that a portable treadmill has a very simple console with only a few pre-set work out programs. The treadmill may have at most 2 incline options. The majority however do come with a heart rate monitor and calorie counter.
Despite the several benefits, portable treadmills do have some drawbacks. One major one is that because of the small belt, they are not suitable for larger people who will possibly fall off the treadmill if they try to use it.
Portable treadmills are not only useful for small spaces but are also good for people who live in more than one place. They therefore can carry their treadmill to wherever they will be at any particular time.
